  • The Veterinary Technician assists the doctors to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work at Pend Oreille Veterinary Service.

    The Veterinary Technician assists in multiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, vaccinations, euthanasia as well as client education, marketing and inventory maintenance. This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventative health care recommendations. This is an overview of the position and the job responsibilities listed do not encompass the entire position. The Veterinary Technician is under the direct guidance and supervision of the Lead Technician, Practice Manager and veterinarians.

  • The veterinary assistant assists the veterinarian and technicians with office visits and exams, takes care of the everyday needs of pets in the hospital ward and boarding facility, if applicable, and helps maintains the hospital facility, keeping it neat and clean.

    Job Requirements/ Skills/ Physical Demands

    An employee in this position must have a sense of caring for animals, be able to lift approximately 50 pounds unassisted, walk dogs of up to 150 pounds, work on feet all day, and read and understand English.

  • Lots of human and animal contact. Greet clients, admit boarding pets, maintain patient and client records, answer phone calls, direct clients to appropriate department. Must be able to keep calm under pressure. Must have people skills and fondness for pets. Facility is paper-light; computer skills are a must. Customer service experience mandatory.

  • The purpose of this position is to provide outstanding client service. The Customer Service Representative (CSR) answers the phone, differentiates between routine and emergency cases, schedules appointments, greets clients, admits and checks out patients, processes payments, manages financial information, and communicates information between clients and staff.

    The CSR enjoys working with people and diverse clients and is caring, friendly, and efficient. Creates a warm and welcoming impression. Remains professional and courteous while handling multiple tasks with many interruptions.

    Firmly believes in the quality of care provided and communicates this sense of assurance to clients. Understands our services and recommendations and clearly communicates them to clients.

    Empathizes with clients and remains compassionate and well-mannered if a client becomes emotional or discourteous. Remains calm and collected in the face of emergency situations. Ultimately, it is the CSR who creates a good first and last impression on our clients. The importance of this role cannot be over-emphasized.

    Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.

  • The Pet Lodge Kennel assistant, takes care of the everyday needs of pets in the boarding facility and helps maintains the lodging facility’s cleanliness and care.

  • About Pend Oreille Veterinary Service, Pet Lodge & Spa

    Located in the Selkirk Mountains minutes away from Sandpoint Idaho, working for Pend Oreille Veterinary Service will give you the opportunity to live in “America’s Prettiest Winter Town” as named by Travel + Leisure Magazine. Pend Oreille Veterinary Service has been providing superior animal care since 1964. Our pet campus is nestled between a destination ski resort, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort, and the gorgeous Lake Pend Oreille. Come join our passionate team and live in the “Most Beautiful Small Town In America” as named by USA Today and Rand McNally.

    There are multiple opportunities in our Grooming Department! Professional Groomers, bathers and client relations’ staff are needed to help this fast-paced, service orientated department shine! Our grooming facility is open 7-days a week; multiple shifts available.

    GROOMER DUTIES (include but are not limited to): Being able to physically assess, prepare, bathe and finish all breeds using the latest humane techniques and products while demonstrating efficiency to complete a superior finished result aiming for 100% customer satisfaction! Occasional supervision of bathers and apprentice groomers is required to ensure our goals of client satisfaction are being reached. Pend Oreille Veterinary Service provides all equipment, supplies and reception staff.

    BATHER DUTIES (include but are not limited to): Assist Groomer with prepping and bathing each grooming pet. This position is under the direct supervision of the Groomer.

    RECEPTION DUTIES(include but are not limited to): Welcome each client and patient. Treat everyone that enters Pend Oreille Veterinary Service in a manner that they will feel cared for and appreciated. Help to answer and direct questions and concerns to the appropriate team member. Be helpful, courteous, pleasant and polite to each client and staff members at all times. Be a quality part of the Pend Oreille Veterinary Service team that adds to the positive morale of the entire practice. Exhibit an excellent work ethic at all times.
